2012 Nebbiolo

A deliciate Nebbiolo, full of tobacco, candied fruit, violets, and mushroom.  Medium-bodied with terse and powerful tannins.  The 2012 vintage marks our second bottling of Nebbiolo.  Sourced from one of the only Nebbiolo vineyards in Virginia (Berry Hill) we have been fortunate now on two occasions to produce a distinct, varietal wine from these 30 year old vines.  This is a bit of a pet project for our winemaker.  These Nebbiolos are confusing: light color, very distinct earth and fruit aromatics, and aggressive tannic structure don’t always live harmoniously in a wine.  In our 2012 Nebbiolo, they work wondrously.  Pair Nebbiolo with braised short ribs, beef roasts, truffles and roote vegetables.
